Puppy Contract

The complete set of terms you put your name to when you buy a puppy from me, set out here so you read them ahead of committing instead of afterwards.

No puppy leaves without a written contract, and the one printed here is it. What you sign matches this page word for word. Anything on it that does not sit right with you is worth raising before a deposit changes hands, not at the moment I hand over the dog.

1. The parties and the puppy

I am the seller, Greg Harpson, operating as Majestic American Bully out of Sedona, Arizona 86336. You are the buyer. The contract pins down the one puppy involved by its name, sex, birth date, colour and size class.

2. Price and payment

  • The price stands at $700, the same figure regardless of colour, size class or sex.
  • Placing a deposit holds one named puppy for you and comes off that price.
  • Whatever remains falls due before the puppy sets off, or when you collect it.
  • Where delivery is needed, it runs $150 to an airport or $180 to your door.
  • A microchip can be added for an extra fee if you ask before the puppy travels.
  • Nothing else is ever billed, at any stage.

3. Deposits

  • A deposit will not come back to you if you simply change your mind. That is the trade-off for taking a puppy off the market and keeping it for you.
  • Should I be the one to call it off, for any cause at all, the puppy failing its veterinary check before travel included, you get the deposit back in full or moved onto a different puppy, whichever you prefer.
  • A delivery date shifting for weather, a heat advisory or a closed road is not a cancellation. I tell you the reason and we settle on a fresh date.

4. What I warrant

As the puppy leaves my hands:

  • It has been seen by Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic, 45 Bell Rock Plaza, Sedona, AZ 86351, and judged healthy at that examination.
  • It has had DHPP, covering distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus, and at ten weeks dhpp booster and canine influenza.
  • It has been wormed at two-week intervals from the age of two weeks.
  • It carries a written health record listing every date.
  • It has reached at least eight weeks of age. I never let a puppy go sooner.

5. Health guarantee

  • The condition: a licensed vet of your own choosing has to examine the puppy within one week of collection. That visit is what switches the guarantee on. Skip it and there is no guarantee to call on, because nothing independent records how the puppy was when it reached you.
  • Should that examination turn up a serious congenital or hereditary defect that genuinely affects the dog’s quality of life, tell me inside 48 hours and send the vet’s written findings.
  • The remedy is yours to pick: a replacement puppy from a later litter, or the full purchase price back.
  • Claiming never means handing the dog back. By that point the dog is yours, and it would be an unreasonable thing to ask.
  • What the guarantee pays out is the purchase price, nothing further. Any vet bills you run up are on you, which is precisely what pet insurance is there for.
  • It has no bearing on parasites, minor or self-clearing conditions, injury, or anything that surfaces after that first veterinary examination.

The whole guarantee laid out plainly.

6. Your obligations

  • Get the puppy looked over by your own vet within a week of it arriving.
  • Finish the vaccination course to your vet’s timetable.
  • Give the dog suitable food, shelter, exercise and veterinary care for the whole of its life.
  • Before you buy, make sure your lease, HOA and insurer all allow the breed and its grown weight. I will keep a puppy on hold while you get that confirmed in writing.
  • Never keep the dog chained or shut away for long stretches.

7. Rehoming, and the takeback

I’ll take back any dog I’ve bred, at any point in its life, with no time limit and no questions asked.

  • If keeping the dog becomes impossible, at whatever age and for whatever reason, come to me first.
  • Do not pass the dog to anyone else by sale or gift, and never give it up to a shelter, before you have spoken to me.
  • No money is returned at that point. This is a promise that a dog I bred is never left to chance, not a refund scheme.
  • All I ask is an honest account of what has changed, so I can rehome the dog the right way.

8. Breeding

These puppies are sold as companions. I set no fixed spay or neuter date, since the right timing in a big breed is a call for you and your vet to make, and there is a sound case for holding off until the growth plates have closed. Raise it at that first visit.

9. General

  • Arizona state law governs this contract.
  • It stands as the whole agreement. Nothing said in conversation, by message or anywhere on this website overrides it.
  • If a single clause turns out to be unenforceable, every other clause holds.
  • A signed copy goes to each party.

Read it before you commit

Ask me what any clause is for and I will tell you. If something does not suit you, raise it now and not at handover.
