The foundation line

Razor Edge American Bully Puppies for Sale

Where the Razor Edge name comes from, what it means on a pedigree, and how it runs through the puppies I raise in Sedona, Arizona.

Razor Edge is one of the foundation bloodlines of the American Bully, not a separate breed and not a kind of pit bull. It is a line, built on the East Coast in the 1990s, that helped shape the compact, heavy-boned, broad-fronted dog people now picture when they hear the word bully. The dogs I raise are built on that foundation.

What Razor Edge actually means

The American Bully did not appear from nowhere. A small number of breeders in the 1990s set out to build a companion dog that kept the muscle and presence of the old bull breeds but carried a steadier, friendlier head, and the lines they founded are the names still written on pedigrees today. Razor Edge is one of the earliest and best known of them.

So when a listing says Razor Edge, it is describing ancestry, not a separate breed. A Razor Edge dog is an American Bully whose line traces back to that foundation.

Why people type Razor Edge pit bull

Because the foundation stock came out of the bull-and-terrier breeds, the two names get used as if they were one, and they are not. The American Bully is its own breed now, bred for a blockier build and a calmer, more sociable nature than a working pit bull. If what you are after is a steady family dog with that classic bully structure, the American Bully is the dog, and Razor Edge is one of the lines that put it there. The two, side by side.

How it shows in my dogs

I breed for structure and temperament first and ancestry second, but the two are tied together, because the foundation lines are where the structure came from in the first place. You will see it in the broad front, the deep chest and the short, tight coat on the puppies here, across the colours and the size classes I raise. Ask me about a particular puppy's background and I will tell you what I know of it rather than what sells.

Buying a Razor Edge puppy well

The name carries a premium online, and a premium name draws people selling dogs they never raised. Ask to see the dam and the puppy on a live video call, ask who examined the litter, and ask what happens if it does not work out. I’ll take back any dog I’ve bred, at any point in its life, with no time limit and no questions asked.

Full detail on every puppy

Every puppy, the same terms

The figure on the card is the figure, with nothing bolted on at the close. Examined by Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic before it travels, sent home with a written health record and enough of its food to change over gradually, and delivered anywhere in the country, by road or by a nanny who carries the puppy in the cabin and never in a cargo hold.

I don’t screen or certify the parents and won’t claim I do. What I do is have every puppy examined by Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic before it leaves, and the dates go on the record that travels with the dog.
