American Bully Puppies for Sale in Houston
Raised in Sedona, Arizona and brought to Houston by road or by a nanny who flies with the puppy in the cabin.
Let me be straight about geography first: I am in Sedona, Arizona, not in Houston. I will not dress this page up as a kennel somewhere off the Katy Freeway. Houston is roughly 1,150 miles from me, a two-day drive, and of everywhere I send puppies it is the toughest climate any of them has to live in.
Start with the air, not the thermometer
On the Gulf coast it is the humidity that does the damage, not the number on the thermometer. A dog cools itself by panting, and panting only works while the surrounding air still has room to take on moisture. In Houston, for much of the year, it does not. That is why a ninety-five degree Houston afternoon is harder on a short-muzzled bully than a hundred and five degree afternoon in Phoenix, where the air is bone dry.
From May through September I run my Houston deliveries overnight, and I will push a date back before I will carry a puppy through a heat advisory. The same discipline falls to you once the dog is home: walks at the very start and the very end of the day, air conditioning through the middle of it, and an eye trained to spot heat stress before it turns serious.
Where Houston sits with the law
Texas forbids any city from writing its dog rules around breed, so Houston neither bans this breed nor can. What the state does enforce is a tough dangerous-dog law aimed at the conduct of the individual animal, which is where it belongs. The full Texas position.
How the puppy actually gets there
Two choices. Two days on the road in a climate-controlled vehicle, driven the entire way with regular stops, or a single day with a nanny who flies into Bush or Hobby holding the puppy in the cabin beside her. Cargo is never one of the options. Over this distance in a Houston summer most buyers choose the nanny, and so would I.
Every puppy, the same terms
The figure on the card is the figure, with nothing bolted on at the close. Examined by Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic before it travels, sent home with a written health record and enough of its food to change over gradually, and delivered anywhere in the country, by road or by a nanny who carries the puppy in the cabin and never in a cargo hold.
I don’t screen or certify the parents and won’t claim I do. What I do is have every puppy examined by Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic before it leaves, and the dates go on the record that travels with the dog.
Ask me anything
The awkward questions included, and that goes for a puppy you are weighing up from somebody else as well.
